Travel Content Site of the Week
A recent arrival on the international content market- place is Globizzle, launched in Australia two months ago. This site connects content providers to a global network of media companies. It’s aimed at professionals, citizen journalists and aspiring writers.
Here’s the deal: you join globizzle.com for free, upload your content (story, cartoon or news video) and set your price. A media organisation buys your content and you get paid through PayPal. There’s no set price. That’s between you and the buyer.
On the upside, it means you write a local travel story about how Surfers Paradise attracts Indian couples on honeymoon and sell it first to a Mumbai newspaper, then other multiple overseas outlets. You bypass the big media players.
On the downside, Australian journalists will now be in competition with content providers from anywhere in the world, let’s say Mumbai, who sell their content much cheaper.
Will this be the end of the foreign correspondent or specialist travel writer? It’s too early to tell. But why not have a go. Like eBay, the more you sell, the more stars you get. I haven’t tried yet, but I will let you know how I get on.
